Le subjonctif at C1 — passé & concessions
On this page
The compound subjunctive, and the elegant « qui que, quoi que, où que ».
Le subjonctif passé
« Je suis content que tu sois venu » — for completed actions inside a trigger: sois/aies + participle. The timing choice (present vs past subjunctive) is yours to control now.
Whoever, whatever, wherever
« Qui que vous soyez » (whoever you are), « quoi qu’il arrive » (whatever happens), « où que tu ailles » (wherever you go). Concessions in full elegance — and « quoi que » ≠ « quoique » (although).
💡 Subjonctif passé — et « quoi que » ≠ « quoique ».
