montrer in real spoken French

« montrer » — jump to your level:A1A2B1B2C1C2Native

One command you will hear constantly.

Real spoken French

« Montre voir ! » — with a redundant voir tacked on — means “let’s have a look”. That extra voir after an imperative is a very French habit; you will also hear « écoute voir », « attends voir ».

Speech shortens the rest: « j’te montre » with the vowel gone, and the negative drops ne: « je te montre pas ».
