Frequently Asked Questions

  • I'm a complete beginner — is that okay?

Yes. About a third of my students start with no French at all. We go slowly, use English when we need to, and build from the basics. There's no level you need to reach before your first lesson.

  • I need French for work. Can you really help with that?

Yes — this is one of my specialties. I have a Master's in Logistics Engineering and spent three years working at AIRBUS, ORANO, and SUEZ before becoming a full-time French teacher. I can teach professional French (emails, meetings, presentations) and I have real working knowledge of how French is used in industry — especially in logistics, operations, and engineering contexts.

  • What does a lesson look like?

A lesson is 30, 45, or 60 minutes in your browser. We use video, audio, and a shared whiteboard. We speak French as much as your level allows, work on whatever we'd agreed for the lesson, and afterwards I send you homework and a short manual to review during the week.

  • How does the free trial work?

You book a free 20-minute lesson through the booking page. We meet in the classroom at the agreed time, talk a bit (in French or English depending on your level), figure out what you'd like to focus on, and decide together whether to continue with a paid pack. No commitment after the trial

  • How do I pay?

Lessons are sold in packs — 3, 6, 12, or 18 hours, with 30/45/60-minute session options. Payment is online through the booking system. Lessons can be scheduled at your own pace within 12 months of purchase.

  • What if I need to reschedule?

You can reschedule up to 24 hours before a lesson at no cost. Last-minute cancellations may count toward your pack, depending on the circumstances.

  • What languages do you speak?

French (native), English (fluent), Thai (intermediate), Spanish (low intermediate). I usually teach in French, but for beginners I'll switch into English (or simplified French) as much as needed.

★★★★★
I’ve had a really great experience learning French with Xavier. The lessons are well-structured, clear, and easy to follow, even when the material becomes more advanced. He’s very patient and takes the time to explain things in a way that actually makes sense, not just memorization. What I especially appreciate is the balance between grammar, speaking practice, and real-life usage.

The online classroom

Lessons run in a real classroom, not a plain video call

We can both write, draw and share material while we talk, the way you would at a table together. The room runs on BrainCert in your browser, so there is nothing to install.

Inside French's Cool virtual classroom: interactive whiteboard with a welcome board, class chat and live video panel
Bonjour, I’m Xavier, a native French speaker and I’ve been teaching online since 2020. I’ve worked with complete beginners, advanced learners, and everyone in between. My students stay because lessons are structured, focused, and adapted to their lives.
  • A shared board we can both write on, so spelling and structure are visible rather than spoken.
  • A shared screen for documents, images and exercises during the lesson.
  • Interactive material rather than a static PDF read aloud.
  • Session notes you keep afterwards, so the lesson does not evaporate when we hang up.

All you need is a browser and a headset. The free 20-minute trial runs in exactly the same room.
