chaque, quelques, plusieurs, aucun… — quantity without numbers

1. Les principaux (before the noun)

quelquesa few (+ plural)J’ai quelques questions.
plusieursseveral (invariable)Il a plusieurs amis.
certains / certainessome / certainCertaines personnes pensent que…
tout / toute / tous / toutesall / everyTous les étudiants sont là.
aucun / aucuneno / none (+ ne)Aucun problème.

2. Adjectif → pronom (chaque → chacun)

Adjectif (+ nom)Pronom (seul)
chaque étudiantchacun / chacune (each one)
quelques livresquelques-uns / quelques-unes
tous les jourstous / toutes (all of them)
aucun trainaucun ne… (none)

3. Le cas de « aucun » (always with ne, always singular)

StructureExempleAnglais
aucun + ne + verbeAucun étudiant n’est venu.No student came.
ne + verbe + aucunJe n’ai aucune idée.I have no idea.
toujours singulieraucun ami (pas aucuns)(no plural)

💡 Les pièges

chaque is ALWAYS singular: « chaque jour », never « chaque jours ».

plusieurs never changes: plusieurs amis, plusieurs idées — no feminine, no extra rules.

Don’t forget the ne with aucun/aucune: « je n’ai aucun regret » — the aucun already means “no”, but French still needs ne.

See tout/toute/tous/toutes in full on its own page — it’s the trickiest of the family.
