« penser » gives you an opinion, and one preposition problem for later.
« penser » conjugates with no surprises at all — a plain regular -ER verb. Its first job is simple: je pense que + your opinion. « Je pense que c’est vrai. »
Beginners often try to translate “I think so” word for word. French does not do that: the fixed phrase is je pense que oui. Learn it as a block now and you will never invent something wrong later.
💡 Focus at this level: Basics — saying what you think
1. Build every opinion on « je pense que ». It works with any sentence behind it.
2. Learn « je pense que oui / que non » as two frozen phrases.
3. Do not drop the « que ». English can say “I think it’s true”; French cannot omit que.
