At A2 you move « finir » into the past — and French gives you two past tenses where English often uses one. Passé composé = avoir + the participle fini: « j’ai fini », « nous avons fini ». One auxiliary, one participle — that’s the whole tense.
Imparfait recipe: take nous finissons, drop -ons → stem finiss-, add the endings.
