The examiner wants to hear you justify: « J’apprends le français pour voyager » / « pour que mes enfants soient bilingues ».

Golden rule: same subject → pour + infinitif; different subject → pour que + subjonctif. Never « pour que » with the same subject!

afin de/afin que = the elegant written twins of pour/pour que — swap them in for instant register points.
