💡 Comment les distinguer
Test: can you replace it with « qui + verbe » and does it take an object? → participe présent (invariable). Does it describe like an adjective and agree? → adjectif verbal.
The gérondif (en + -ant) is always about the MAIN subject and answers how/while — see its own page.
Spelling traps: verb « fatiguant / provoquant » keep the u/qu; the adjectives drop them: « fatigant / provocant ». Same for -geant/-gent, -quant/-cant.
