1. Les sens de « on »

💡 Pourquoi c’est essentiel
In everyday spoken French, on = nous almost every time. « On y va ? » = « shall we go? ». Learn it or you’ll sound like a textbook.
The verb after « on » is always 3rd person singular (like il/elle): on mange, on est, on a.
But when « on » clearly means « nous », the adjective/participle often agrees in the plural: « On est parties » (we [women] left).
