📘 Money talk, decoded
- La monnaie ≠ money! It means CHANGE (coins): « Vous avez la monnaie ? » — “money” in general is l’argent.
- At the till: « Vous payez par carte ou en espèces ? » — card or cash. Contactless = sans contact.
- Coûter conjugates the price: « Ça coûte combien ? » / casual « C’est combien ? »
- Cheap has no single word — use pas cher (most common) or bon marché (a bit formal).
- Slang money you’ll hear: le fric, la thune, les sous — and « ça coûte un bras » (it costs an arm — not a leg!).
