Twenty minutes is short on purpose. The trial isn’t a squeezed lesson or a sales pitch — it’s a real conversation with a clear job to do: find out where your French actually is, and show you exactly how lessons here feel.

The shape of the twenty minutes

You’ll spend the first minutes just talking — in English, French, or the wobbly mix most learners arrive with; all three are welcome. Xavier listens for the things a level test can’t see: what you reach for when a word is missing, which sounds your mouth already owns, where hesitation actually comes from. Then you’ll try a little French together — reading a line, answering a question, playing with a phrase — not to judge you, but to place you. You leave with three concrete things: an honest CEFR placement (A1–C1), the two or three priorities that will move you fastest, and a recommendation for what to do next — even if that next step isn’t lessons with us.

How to prepare

Don’t. Seriously — no revision, no rehearsed introduction. The trial works best when it meets your real French, not your best-behaviour French. You need a quiet spot, a working microphone, and the browser you already have: lessons run on video in the browser, nothing to install.

Why it’s free

Because it’s the fastest way for both of us to know if this is a fit. A teacher you’ll speak French with for months has to be someone you’re comfortable being wrong in front of — and no pricing page can tell you that. Twenty minutes can.
