Giving things back

rendre is a regular -RE verb, a different family from all the -ER verbs you have met. The endings are -s, -s, —, -ons, -ez, -ent: je rends, tu rends, il rend, nous rendons, vous rendez, ils rendent. Note that the third person singular has no ending at all — just the stem.
