Another être verb, plus the rentrer confusion.
Entrer joins the movement verbs that take être: « je suis entré dans la pièce », « elle est entrée ». The participle agrees with the subject, as always with this group.
Now the confusion worth clearing up: rentrer strictly means to go back in, or to go home — but in everyday speech French speakers use it for plain entering too. « Je rentre dans le magasin » is extremely common. Entrer is the safer, more correct choice in writing.
💡 Focus at this level: Past — with être, and rentrer
1. Être, with agreement. « Elle est entrée. »
2. Rentrer = to go home, or to re-enter.
3. In speech the two blur; in writing keep them apart.
