The conditional turns giving into offering.
Tu me donnerais…? is how you ask for something without demanding it: « tu me donnerais un coup de main ? » — would you give me a hand? The conditional does all the politeness work.
The future je donnerai is a promise: « je te donnerai une réponse demain ». In business and admin French this is the standard way to commit to a deadline without over-promising.
