Futur proche = planned / about to happen (spoken French loves it) : « Je vais appeler ce soir. »
Futur simple = predictions, promises, formal plans : « Il pleuvra demain. »
After quand about the future, French uses the future twice : « Quand tu arriveras, on mangera. »
