Negate the past, and swap « pas » for stronger words: never, no more, nothing.
In the passé composé, « ne … pas » wraps the auxiliary only: « je n’ai pas fini » — never the participle. The sandwich hugs the small verb.
Keep « ne », swap the second word: « ne … jamais » (never), « ne … plus » (no more), « ne … rien » (nothing). And after any negation, un/une/des become de: « je n’ai pas de voiture ».
💡 jamais, plus, rien remplacent « pas » — et un/une/des → de.
