Every French noun travels with a little word — meet the six of them.
Definite (the): « le » (m), « la » (f), « les » (plural) — « le livre, la table, les amis ». Indefinite (a/some): « un », « une », « des » — « un café, une idée, des questions ».
Teacher’s rule #1: never learn a noun naked. Don’t memorise « pomme » — memorise « une pomme ». The article carries the gender, and the gender is forever.
