Le subjonctif at A1 — chunks you’ll hear everywhere
On this page
You don’t need the theory yet — you need to recognise five phrases.
Collect, don’t analyse
French people say « il faut que j’y aille » (I have to go) and « il faut que tu viennes » (you have to come) constantly. At A1, learn these as fixed chunks, like song lyrics. The grammar behind them (the subjunctive) will make sense at B1 — for now, your ears are doing the learning.
💡 Apprenez les phrases entières, comme des paroles de chanson.

💡 Your A1 goal
At A1 your goal is recognition and first use: understand the pattern when you hear it, and produce the two or three simplest forms without thinking. Accuracy over ambition — short and correct beats long and broken.
