Falling takes être, with agreement.
« Je suis tombé » — I fell. Never « j’ai tombé ». Tomber belongs to the être group, and the participle agrees: « elle est tombée », « ils sont tombés ».
A useful pair to learn together: tomber malade (to fall ill) and tomber en panne (to break down, of a car or machine). Both take être and both are constant in real life.
💡 Focus at this level: Past — with être
1. Être, with agreement. « Elle est tombée. »
2. « Tomber malade » = to fall ill.
3. « Tomber en panne » = to break down. Cars, lifts, printers.
