regarder at A1 — the present tense (no preposition!)

« regarder » — jump to your level:A1A2B1B2C1C2Native

« regarder » already contains the “at”. Never add one.

Looking at things

English says look at; French says regarder and stops. « Je regarde la télé », never « je regarde à la télé ». The preposition is baked into the verb, exactly as it is with chercher and écouter.

Keep it apart from voir. Regarder is deliberate — you point your eyes on purpose. Voir is passive — the image simply arrives. « Je regarde le film » means you are watching it; « je vois le film » means you can see it.

💡 Focus at this level: Basics — watching, with no « à »
