The other irregulars

« mauvais → pire » (worse), « petit → moindre » (lesser, abstract: « un moindre problème »). Latin pairs: « supérieur/inférieur à » (no « que » !).

Progression & parallel change

« de plus en plus cher » (more and more), « de moins en moins souvent ». And the elegant double: « Plus je lis, plus j’apprends » (the more… the more…) — no « le », no « que ».
